I want to dissolve DMBA in corn oil or sesame oil to oral feed the mouse to induce mammary tumor, according to many protocols published. But the question is how to dissolve DMBA in oil? Should sonication work?
I used to dissolve Tamoxifen in oil with sonication. Since DMBA is highly toxic, I am wondering whether sonication is the standard practice? Or other better and safer ways? Thanks!
Perhaps you could use a bath sonicator instead of a probe sonicator. Put the substances in a conical glass tube with screw cap (to prevent aerosol release) and immerse it in the water bath so that the water level is even with the liquid level in the tube.
Considering the structure of DMBA, a fully aromatic hydrocarbon, I would it expect it to be very stable, as long as it is not exposed to UV light.
