The two bacterial strains I am testing on are Salmonella typhimurium and Listeria monocytogenes in two different mueller hinton agar plates via kirby bauer disk diffusion. The problem that I am having is finding out how to dilute my glycine, and xylitol powders in what ratio to how much distilled water. Research has been done stating that glycine in concentrations of 0.5-1.5% of the total weight of the product being tested has been shown to be effective as an antimicrobial. However, I am testing on pure cultures first before testing them in the matrix of the food.
