I am interested in developing a mathematical model for biopolymer coated fertilizers using a multiscale modelling approach. I would be greatful if anybody could guide me more on this.

I think you could use the bio-degradation test for polymer. For instance, the soil burial test to weight loss and visual analyses. The material sample is buried in the soil which is watered at regular intervals.
