I have conducted uniaxial compression tests on my 3D printed samples. Since these are perforated samples, ideally they should have negative (or near zero) Poisson's ratio. However, DIC (digital image correlation) cannot be employed due to perforations, neither can the strain gauges do the job.

I am interested to calculate the Poisson's ratio for these samples (to study their auxetic behavior). I have basic understanding, that I need to have transverse and axial strains, and divide them (with negative sign as these strains have different signs).

My query is, how would you suggest me to proceed? Do I need to use a digital ruler/scale to make these measurement from these images? Also, until which regime should the measurements be taken? Before densification occurs, or before plateau regime?

Thank you very much
