I did antibiotic resistance by vitek2 compact and I found beta-lactamase resistance phenotypically in Gram-negative bacteria. How can I determine types of bet-lactamase genes to perform by PCR?
For example, when do I choose to do SHV, CTX-M-1, TEM, and others.
Can anyone help me with suggestions or resources?
Your description is not clear so i can assume that you have isolated some beta-lactamase producers, and now you want to confirm it by PCR . Now you are looking for the selection criteria. Why do you want to choose any one of the genes for PCR detection? I mean, you can consider doing Multiplex PCR.

Samah Mohammed Refay I think It would be better that you consider doing PCR with primers corresponding to each of the three genes individually, then sequence the PCR product and analyze. From the first few samples, you might be able to get the trend which might be indicating the basis of selection if you have a large number of samples and its not manageable to do PCR for all the sample for the three genes.
Moreover, Some of the genes for beta Iactamases are specific to bacterial species.

Which type of AST card you have used in VITEK2 compact system? Actually majority of AST cards contained carbapenem (broad-spectrum beta-lactam) apart from cephalosporin, monobactam, and cephamycin. So kindly check the MICs of all beta-lactams carefully and do the needful.
1. If cephalosporin, cephamycin, and monobactam resistance occur then you can do the Paces of TEM, SHV, OXA, CTX-M, and plasmid-mediated AmpCs.
2. If carbapenem (imipenem, ertapenem, meropenem, and doripenem) resistance occur then KPC, NDM, and OXA-48-like genes can be checked.
