How to determine the constant 'n' in the Tafel equation?

The standard Tafel equation is η = α + β log (i), and β = 2.303RT/nF, where n is the number of electrons transferred in the rate determining step. How to find the value of 'n'? Is it equal to the charge (Q) around the linear region of the LSV curve?
