You may use Allele-Specific Polymerase Chain Reaction assay for detection of KRAS gene mutations. The KRAS G12C mutation, results in a change from glycine to cysteine, and is associated with tobacco exposure. In contrast, non-smokers, commonly exhibit G12D mutation, a change from glycine to aspartic acid.
