I think design point of view the guideline attached in your question is alright but still the correct estimate of lateral pressure on the wall is important. Many methods are there to find the lateral pressure on the wall. I recommend you to read the text book as attached here with for your reference..all the best in your research..

Please check reinforced concrete design by Mosley and Bungey (any edition will do). You get further guidelines on the specific inputs for your design. You also have worked examples.

Depending where wall is located may need to consider sesmic inparticular how it could change the soil character.

The design of retaining walls should be carried out based on the following general guidelines.

2. General Guideline: The attachment is good for general understanding of the methodology to be followed.

3. Specific design Standard: The specific parameters such as soil parameters, determination of earth pressure, and factor of safety are different based on which code, standard or guidelines you are selected for the design work.

4. Dynamic load effect: The retaining walls should be design if there is any dynamic load effect such as vehicle load or train load. In such case, you need to explore more for such dynamic load.

5. Earthquake load effect: It is another important consideration if the wall is located near seismic zone. You may think to satisfy additional seismic design requirements.
