How to decide the start of injection (Crank angle) for a gasoline engine?

For different injector geometry, how to decide a correct start of injection.

1) for DI SI engine (stratified charge mode) injection should start before the spark timing. level of stratification depends on injection timing, injector design and swirl inside the cylinder. so it is difficult to tell the exact starting time for injection.

2)for DI SI (homogeneous mode ) fuel can be injected during suction stroke
