In my work, microsatellites are processed within the Ericales. They are dimers and the intensity of the peak at 650-700 bp makes sense. But what are the smaller peaks ?

Amplifiability of primers was checked and PCR products were sequenced and compared with database and confirmed.

Also what effect does the dye have on the size of the fragments ?
