Understanding of Microbiome of reproductive tract is necessary for improving pig farming and reducing piglet mortality.
We report here types of naturally occurring bacteria in reproductive tract of pregnant sows.
Many of the bacteria are opportunistic pathogens and may be associated with health of piglets.
However, multiple drug resistance (MDR) is of major concern as the majority of the isolates were MDR type and only a few were sensitive to the majority of the herbal antimicrobials.
In our study, Aeromonas (39.2%) were the most common isolates followed by Enterococcus (37.8%), Klebsiella (18.9%), Escherichia (10.8%), Citrobacter (8.1%), Pragia (6.8%) and Proteus (6.8%).
