I want to know the types of questions that can measure the sub-skills of vocabulary retention,and how can I measure a learner's superiority over others at recalling or memorization skills as an example of retention skills

Hello. I think that we need more information to answer your question. First of all, what element of vocabulary are you focusing on? Semantics, collocation, phonology, reading, listening? I assume that it's reading, in which case you might use gap fills with multiple choice answers or even no answer. It depends on your pre-test. I would use the same format but perhaps different questions in pre-test and post tests, if I were to attempt something similar to what I imagine you are intending to do.

To measure the depth of vocabulary learning, researchers commonly use a delayed post test. Under such circumstances, we need to make sure that performance on the delayed post test does not involve the so called practice effect. Consequently, using an alternate method, a similar version of the post test you used after the treatment , can safely tackle the issue.
