Several journals mentioned counting filamentous cyanobacteria in CFU, but in my experience my culture (Nostoc) is always in aggregation form, even in liquid medium. Can anyone tell me the technique of counting filamentous cyanobacteria?
Counting CFU of filamentous cyanobacteria is useful when estimating their abundance in soil using soil suspension dilutions and the plating method. Its not adequate for laboratory cultures of cyanobacteria.
