I want to heat aqueous reaction mass in a jacketed vessel using steam. I know that steam is available at 1.5 Kg/cm2. I know jacket area and reactor diameters, length, etc.using which I have calculated heat transfer area too. I know how much steam is required to evaporate the entire reaction mass. But I want to know in how much time the available steam will evaporate my entire reaction mass?

Mr. Prem I have calculated volume of steam. But I do not know velocity of steam. In your calculations you have directly entered the velocity of steam. You might have meter to record the steam velocity. I do not have any flow meter installed there. I just know the pressure of the steam i.e 1.5 kg/cm2.

For timing one of the factor containing time (mass flow rate, volumetric flow rate) is required e.g. m3/sec, Velocity, Kg/hr. etc., without which you cannot calculate time

One more solution of the Problem If you Have Reynolds's Number of the Steam side Tube then you can find out Velocity of the steam in tube as per attached program
Reynolds number = D V p /µ

I don't understand very well, because to determine the time required the steam must be only enter and not exit, if so then I agree with Nazenin Gure .... But, if the steam gets in and out, first you has to do is determine according to heat mass balance :
Heat of reactor = Heat of Steam ... and make supposition if the steam does not condense:
Heat of reactor = mass * cp * Delta T .... if your steam condenses until gets saturated:
Heat of reaction = mass * Enthalpy at pressure given.. and so on....
And because it gets in and out.... you won't be able to determine the time that the reaction will be completed... To determine the time required, you need to establish the kind of reactor and look for the design equation to calculate the time.

Let me clear the scenario. My boiler generates steam at rate of 2 T/Hr having pressure of 8 Kg/cm2. The pressure of steam reduces to 3.0Kg/cm2 after passing through PRV. This 3.0 Kg/cm2 steam is distributed into entire plant. The reactor I am talking about is 600 m away from the boiler and receives steam of 1.5 Kg/cm2 may be due to pressure drop along the line. I do not know at what flow rate does this steam come. Steam enters the reactor jacket and leaves it as condensate.
Now I have already calculated that I need 1.3 ton of steam to evaporate the reaction mass which is in the reactor. My concern is how long will the steam take to evaporate the reaction mass. I am not at all carrying out any reaction. I am just evaporating the mass.
I guess flow meter on steam line will serve the purpose. Or else I have to collect the condensate to know the volumetric flowrate.

You can consider typical steam velocities related to different pipe diameter for which chart is available on google. Then calculate volumetric flow rate by velocity*area. By the discharge pressure get the specific volume of steam via steam table. Divide the volumetric flowrate(m3/hr) by specific volume(m3/kg) to get mass flowrate(kg/hr).
in cases of steam when pressure reduces;flow rate decreases but when temp reduced flow rate increases. u can approximate it but im unable to find how to find exact flow rate without measuring it without velocity.

i have similar qn....
if im converting 14 ksc, 300 deg c steam into 7 ksc,280 deg c via valve. i know flow rate of 3tph. if im further reducing steam by closing that valve i get 2 ksc,230 deg c; what will be flow rate now.
