First, sorry for my delayed response as I was on vaccation.

I tried to open .STL directly in Ansys. I also tried to open .DWG and .OBJ. While doing static analysis, Ansys accepts those formats geometry. But when I try to add material properties in the model tab, it simply crashes and gives an error message 'Plugin error. Unable to attach the geometry'.

Dear Mohan : Intense meshing is required in pre-processings softwares like hypermesh or Ansa before we can import to Ansys or Abaqus to solve. The surface or solid models needs to be imported to these preprocessors before being solved. Pl le me know if it helps.

You can import the InVersalius generated stl model into the Spaceclaim then fix the mesh (and export into igs model) before import in Ansys. Spaceclaim and Ansys are one now, that function is integrated in Ansys.
