I have real composite micro structure which is made up chromium with alumina and they are coupled perfectly each other. While performing elastoplastic analysis on the basis of patch load test(unit pressure test), I was encountering large number of element distortion but to avoid this issue, even I have been adopted adaptive re-meshing technique in the abaqus standard solver, as a result I have noticed again the same element distortion.So I just want know how to control this element distortion in the orphan mesh case (I have only input file ) with abaqus standard solver?
Best to do is working with hypermesh Pre-proccesser!. you need to check element quality paramters and try to correct them according to definied creteria e.g Jacobian 0.3 and so on...

then you need to find parrtion strategy where you can define many partions( solid cut into many parts) and mesh it, then control the elements qualtiy.
In fact I am generating real composite micro structure mesh from scan IP and that has limited option.
i have done the same thing in my paper generating D-scan delamenation Profile. try have a look at it if you send me a picture of what you want to mesh i can support you with strategy doing that.
