Dear all,

I have a question related to element connectivity in ABAQUS , while looking at the ABAQUS element connectivity in local coordinate system is not mapped identically to the element connectivity in global coordinate system, which has been evidenced by looking at the discretized each elements in ABAQUS. I think, in this case, they might be exploited some kind of transformation function because which may able to preserve order of element connectivity between the local and global coordinate system. But related to this transformation function in ABAQUS documentation where nothing was reported.

I request you to all please suggest me on how they have been mapped the order of element connectivity among local to global coordinate system. Or else please suggest how to see the local axis for each element in abaqus.

Note: For clear illustration, I have attached ABAQUS local coordinate(natural coordinate system, g, h and r) element numbering and its associated node location shape function. If one use the same interpolation function (shown in the file abaqus.gif) to formulate the stiffness matrix of discretized each element, He/She may come up with wrong solution. It is because, poor mapping in the element connectivity so that one can not use same idealized shape function for each element. Following the attached image of abaqus3 (global coordinate element connectivity where X refer to g , Y refer to h and Z refer to r in local axis) and abaqus.png (local -natural coordinate system element connectivity) which shows that inconsistency in the element connectivity between the global and local axis .

Thank you
