Hi, I have longitudinal data of reading skills , language and cognitive abilities of children from the first up to their seventh grade. I want to identify predictors of reading comprehension and examine if and how they change over time. What is the best analysis to accomplish this? structural equation modelling? multiple regression? linear mixed models?
I'd appreciate any advice you could give me on the subject.

I would add to Ferhat Tura
's excellent suggestion that this is exactly the sort of problem that multilevel models were developed to tackle! Aside from the clustering of scores within students, students are also clustered within classes within schools. Multilevel models can be used to see how variables at one level interact with variables at another level. For example, how does the level of social deprivation in the school affect the trajectories of scores in boys versus girls?And the Multilevel modelling centre is, as Ferhat says, the go-to resource here.
