Hi colleagues,

I hope you're doing well. I have a question about calculating the standardized regression coefficient (beta) and standard error (SE) for an interaction term using ANOVA table outputs.

Assume a 2×2 ANOVA with two categorical independent variables, A and B, resulting in four cells: lowAlowB, lowAhighB, highAlowB, highAhighB.

The ANOVA table provides:

Cell means, Cell standard deviations, Cell sample sizes

My questions are:

1) How can I calculate the standardized regression coefficient and standard error for the A×B interaction term based on the ANOVA table?

2) If the ANOVA table only reports cell means and sample sizes (without SDs), is it still possible to estimate the standardized interaction effect and standard error? If no, what statistics should I know, too?

3) If it's a 2×4 ANOVA instead of 2×2, would the approach to calculating the standardized coefficient and SE for the interaction term change? Or can I use the same formula?

Any guidance, references, or examples would be greatly appreciated!
