Hello everyone, I plan to do an EEG study and have to collect at least 40 stimuli (object) of AUT. So anyone who can recommend some references, or some one (who can have the AUT), or tell me where I can access the full version of the newly version of AUT? In addition, I have two questions:
1, If I can get help from outside and have obtained at least 40 AUT test, Should I do something on the AUT before I can employ them onto Chinese participants (culture difference?)?
2, If I myself look for objects to create AUT, what should I pay atention to? For example, should the heterogeneity of object be noted? I believe no one would agree if i use baskectball and football to delegate two kinds of objects. In contrast, football and iphone could be considered to use in the same study.

I cannot provide you access to the resources on AUT because everything that I have is in Russian. However, I will try to answer your questions.
1. In the case of AUT, I believe that the only necessary thing to control with respect to cultural differences is whether the chosen objects are common in Chinese culture. In fact, they should be. It is better to avoid something which is highly specific for other cultures but not yours.
2. I think you certainly should pay attention to the following issues. First, an object must be familiar to participants. For example, If you use an "overhead projector", it is probable that many people will not understand what it is. Thus, they will fail to do the task. Second, a chosen object has to be frequently used in daily life by many people. If an object is frequently used in a certain manner (e.g., using a knife for cutting), it becomes functionally fixed (it is more difficult to think about other uses beyond the evident variants; see Duncker, 1945). Thus, it requires more effort to come with creative uses. As for heterogeneity, I agree that it would be better to use objects that are not very close to each other (like pen and pencil). On the other hand, it depends on how many objects will be used for each participant. But I suppose that you won't use all 40 objects for each participant or not?
Please read the recent paper of Olteteanu, Hass, and Zunjani (in press). I think it will be useful for your research. Especially, if you decide to choose the objects yourself. There is a huge bank of standardized objects for AUT!

Firstly, I plan to collect AUTs scattered from previous literature, and select the common used objects in Chinese culture (objects specific to other culture will not be used). if 40 have been collected, that is enough, if not, I will search some other additional objects that commonly used in everyday life of Chinese people.
Secondly, to do an ERP study, all the 40 objects have to be used for each participant, I am sure of it.
Thirdly, I also learn the second paper you recommend. I try to access the 420 objects in the paper but receive no email reply. Anyway, this paper is very useful to tell me how to collect objects from everyday life.
