It is an easy question but the answer could help me a lot.
I am going to make the electrodes for a lithium ion coin cell. I want to know what are the necessary steps to clean the aluminum and copper foils as current collectors before coating slurry on them?

The foil is for laboratory purpose, l used acetone, but the adhesion of the slurry to the foils isn't good at all. I think there must be another materials exept acetone to clean or etch the foils, that I don't know.
For what it's worth, when I clean my foil with solvents before spreading my (aqueous) slurry, adhesion is terrible. For my last step, I clean with deionized water, which gives good adhesion - I have to bake off the water in drying steps anyway.
Anne Sawhney For cleaning Cu or Al current collectors, i usually make equal composition of Acetone and Ethanol (1:1) then insert the CC in the this solvent composition and clean with ultrasonic bath for 30 mins at 30 degrees.
