we are analysing sample of medicinal plant extract., with TLC if we want to extract major components what will be ratio of solvent if we take common extraction solvent based on polarity. Even i dont get extraction method from supplier of standard.
If you don't re-write your question in a way that is easy for readers to understand, you'll never get a response to your question. I saw a UPLC HPLC question, when I opened it, I saw a different content about extraction? Are you really in University?
Dear all, if the compound is unknown, though I disagree with this, because at least from where it is extracted must be known and from this information you can get an idea about the composition, for exemple by simple web search.
Now, suppose the compound is unknown, to be wise enough you should perform other analysis tests such as spectroscopic ones before going to chromatography. I don't understand why don't you start with TLC. My Regards
Dear Jalpa, I can't understand your question? How can you analyze without extracting? If you have done the extraction of your sample, then you should be able to take TLC with different solvents systems. The must surprising is that if you don't have any qualitative or quantitative information about the unknown compound. At least you should target either by TLC either by mass, retention time, polarity,........ You should have a parameter to target and unknown compound.
