I am currently working on a model for fracture generation due to pressure applied in ANSYS. When I am working with structural steel material it is showing only folding not any fracture initiation has taken place. While incase of any material change firstly it was not accepting my geometry on which I am working. Later same problem of not developing fracture occurred.
I want to change my material in ANSYS & do brittle deformation on it. My main goal is to initiate fracture in my geometry.
I don't think that you would be able to initiate fracture in Static Structural. Try Explicit Dynamics module.
There seems to be a problem with the geometry definition in the screenshot you attached. Regarding the environment, Emir is wrong: static structural is the right choice and support fracture analysis.
I'd worry more about the material behaviour modelling.

I am also trying to model fracture in a steel connection using Ansys Mechanical APDL, but it didn't work. I defined damage initiation and damage evolution parameters using DMGI, DMGE, and TBDATA commands but I couldn't see any damage. Do you have any material and examples that show how to model fracture in steel using Ansys Mechanical APDL? The only one I found was this one:

I also found this discussion on the use of EKILL to model damage. EKILL worked for me, but I was just hoping there was an easier way to model damage.
