Sugarcane is a member of the grass family and is valued chiefly for the juices that can be extracted from its stems. The raw sugar that is produced from these juices is later refined into white granular sugar. As a sugarcane plant matures throughout the growing season, the amount of total sucrose in the cane increases. Most of this sucrose production occurs when the plant has fully matured and begins to ripen.
One specification is the Abbé Mark II refractometer. However, for me I would be interested to know whether there is acceptable threshold of % Brix
For POL% you can use a calorimeter. It uses filtered sugarcane juice with lead acetate (well in some Institutes). The vials are inserted into the machine and it gives you direct reading for POL. Recovery could then be calculated easily from Brix and POL using formula.
Using digital instruments Brixometer, sacharimeter, with Java ratio You calculate pol%cane . ERS= pol%cane - 3 (supposed losses)

By using a Cuttergrinder you can calculate the Fiber% in the cane. After that, you can calculate POCS = { 3P/2(1-((F+5)/100)) } – {B/2((1-(F+3)/100))} like wise. POCS allmost equal for CCS

Sugar extractable % = V4 – SLM -0.6 (Dexter et al., 1967)

- Alkalinity coefficient (A.C.)
A.C. = V1+V2 / V3

Purity%= 99.36 -14.27 (V1 +V2+V3 )/V4

V2 = Potassium

- Sugar Yield (tons/fed.) = Root Yield (tons/fed.) × adjusted sucrose percentage
- Recoverable sugar yield = Root yield x Rendement
- Rendement = Pol.% -{0.29 +0.343 (K + Na) + α-amino-N (0.094)]

The following are used to determine sugarcane quality factors : 1- Sampling of stems of sugarcane and syrup extraction. 2. Pour about 100 cc of the desired syrup into Erlen and add 2 g of Pb-acetate to the mixture, then remove the samples from the filter paper and smooth. 3. After smoothing, pour about 15 cc of the filtered liquid into the saccharimeter and read the number called pol-Read (Sucrose syrup percentage). 4- Drop a few drops of the main syrup (without adding Pb-acetate) onto the punch of the brixometer or refractometer and read Cor.Brix, which is the same amount of solids in the sugarcane extract, including all sugars, salts and all substances soluble and insoluble relative to the volume of the syrup. 5. Correct pol-Read readings according to relevant tables and determine pol percentage. 6. Determination of Purity Factor (Pty) or percentage of syrup purity by dividing %Pol into Brix. 7. Using the relevant tables and the Purity correction factor, we obtain the percentage of Pty and divide it into% Pol to obtain the QR. Divide the number 100 by QR to obtain YieldYield (yellow sugar). 9. Multiply the Yeild number (yellow sugar) by the coefficient of 0.83 to obtain the percentage of white sugar (% RS) and the factor SY (refined white sugar end product) is obtained by multiplying the sugar tonnage by Rs.

Dear Rajinder Kumar sorry to respond very late and to Prof. Ahmed Ebieda these formulas you suggested it use with sugar beet only while in sugarcane we can use other formulas like:
1- Brix reading was measured by using Brix hydrometer as a percentage of the total soluble solids in juice (w/w) or hand refractometer.
2- Sucrose percentage was calculated from 100 cm3 of juice using the following equation:
Sucrose percentage = direct reading of Saccharimeter × 1.04
Where, 1.04 is a factor depending on the length of Saccharimeter’s tube (A.O.A.C. 1995).
3- Juice Purity was calculated using the following equation:
Purity percentage = (sucrose percentage / Brix reading) x 100
4- Theoretical sugar recovery was calculated according to the formula described by Legendre and Henderson (1972):
Sugar recovery percentage = [S - 0.4 (B - S)] × 0.73
Where: B= Brix percentage, S= sucrose percentage, 0.4 and 0.73 constant factors.
5- Sugar yield (ton/fed) = net cane yield × theoretical sugar recovery.
