How to calculate sliding gain value in sensorless control of PMSM using sliding mode control?

I am implementing speed control of PMSM using sliding mode observer method. I have following questions.

a) How to decide sliding mode gain ?

b) How to decide cutoff frequency and gain of low pass filter used to extract the information of e_alpha and e_beta?
