In case certain reinforcements of same kind is done in some base matrix in order to know the change in porosity of the reinforced materials with respect to the base matrix, then while calculating relative density shall we take theoretical density of base matrix only.
You didn't try to use Archimedes's method? He gives accuracy to 1/1000.
Pending you know the modulus of your material, can pass an acoustic wave through material, and track via oscilloscope. Speed of sound through a material is equal to the square root of the elastic modulus over the density.
Try Archimedes's method. May be you have use some kind of glycerin in orden to close open porosity.
