I have got a question to ask regarding calculation of percentage contribution of factors in Plackett Burman design. The percent contribution is obtained by summing all the sum of squares term (SS) and then taking each individual SS and dividing by the total SS and multiplying by 100. This method of calculating percentage contribution is applicable for Plackett-Burman experimental design with or without selection of significant effects manually. For Plackett-Burman experimental design including center point, the method cannot calculate the values of the percent contribution of the factors as is shown by the Design Expert 9 software. In that case how to calculate % contribution values?

I don't use Design Expert, but you can calculate easily the contributions. The included EXCEL file shows you how to proceed.

Can someone explain it in little detail in this excel sheet (by adding formulas about how to calculate a value). In one of the cell it is written as error. How did they calculate the error ? And what is the term coefficient ?
