TEM and UV-vis only works for well-dispersed particles. For UV-vis energy is inversely proportional to the size so that the particles have to be small (
The particle size calculated from TEM results is around 20 nm. But from UV-Vis spectra by using effective mass model the calculated particle size is 8 nm. The value differs high. What may be the reason for this?

Try "Tauc plot" and Brus equation for simplicity. The problem with UV is showing abs peaks from 1st excitation to multiple excitation. if your particle have multi/shell or composition structure, it will misleading because UV not just give the single abs peak in nanoparticle case. so, maybe considering higher different abs maximum peak could help, if you have multiple absorption peaks including first abs max peak.
