Hello,
in many papers, the basic reproduction number (R0) is calculated via SIR or similar models such as SIRD or SEIRD. The main parameters of these models are
- alpha = infection rate
- beta = recovery rate
- gamma = mortality rate
Is it possible to calculate these from an epidemic curve? That is from a table with the daily incidence of cases together with the dead and recovery counts.
Usually, a lot of sophisticated mathematical methods are used to estimate these values, thus I reckon it is not easy at all assess them.
