A couple of days ago an article was published about a universal protein adapter.
Maybe a related idea.

Hi, I would suggest to see if the microbes form a biofilm of sort on the probe itself. If they do form a secure holding of microbes to the probe can be done by Nafion. This might be a simple solution but not sure. Testing is required.
