dear all, I am preparing cellulose acetate membrane by phase inversion technique. after it is finished, it is noticed that the membrane shrinks and wrinkles
How can I avoid these phenomena? and do you have any explanation for them?
I usually place a flat plate on the casted membrane when it is ~90% dry. Following things to note-
1. partially wet membrane might stick to the flat metal plate. Use ETFE or PTFE sheet under the metal plate helps with that.
2. Evaporation will be slower.

Temperature of solvent and drying process of membranes are very important parameters among all others which highly effect the shrinkage and also morphology of membranes.
