I am trying to make a pellet using a stainless steel die and a manual hydraulic press. My powder is praseodymium doped ceria (10 mol% doping) and I use a quantity of 1.2 grams. I use a compaction pressure of 150 MPa for a duration of 6 minutes. Every time I face this issue where after compaction and ejection of the pellet from the die, the surface of the pellet sticks to the die component leading to breakage of the pellet or a pellet with a cracked and uneven surface. I have to repeat the compaction several times to get a successful pellet, which is tedious and frustrating. I have used lubricants and lower compaction pressure, duration and powder weight. But it was all in vain. Someone please tell me how to resolve this problem.
