In your previous discussions corrosion is mentioned as one reason of failures. Is it possible to detect corrosion or microfractures before mechanical failure of implants
First of all clinical judgement is given by patient itself by complaining of pain and swelling or other discomfort and surely Radiograph shows some bony changes around the implant
Clinically, There'll Be Swelling of Firm Consistency Around the Implant Area, Because of the Formation of Callous (Soft Bony Materials) That are More of Osteoblasts (Immatured Bone Cells). The Swelling Later Reduces By Being Resorbed By the Osteoclasts ("Bone-Eating" Cells), Which Enhances More Production of Osteocytes (Matured Bone Cells). Then Healing Continues.
I agree with Kanishkanavin, any of the impending failure of metal work that I've picked up have been primarily due to the patient complaining of a change, particularly in pain rather than any discrete x-ray finding
