I have a single phase AC induction motor connected to a gearbox. The output shaft of the gearbox is connected to a DC generator. I want to apply load on to the gearbox output shaft such that the speed of the gearbox output shaft is reduced and maintained constant.
for example: the output shaft speed of gearbox is 500 rpm with out any load.after applying load to DC generator the speed of the output shaft should be reduced say 250 rpm.
how do i apply load to dc generator such that the it reduces the gearbox output shaft speed ?
You can add a power resistor (Variable) at the output of dc generator. Just make sure that resistance should be max when you connect it to the generator. Then by reducing the resistance will reduce the speed of the gearbox.
you can apply load with variable resistor at output of DC generator, but induction motor speed range is limited and you can't reach half of nominal speed with applying load. before that motor will be stopped.
