I hope I find you well. Can someone help me with the following issue?
I have an SPSS file with the results of a survey where the participants where subjected to 2 conditions and the conditions are both combined under 1 variable and labeled as 1 and 2 in the variable. How can I analyze only one of the conditions and have a comparison of what amount of time they have taken to complete in 2 tasks (t value, p value, etc).

If I follow, Anne Watson has a data file with two rows per participant, like this:
ID, Cond
1, 1
1, 2
2, 1
2, 2
3, 1
3, 2
etc.
And another variable (Time?) records the time taken to complete a task. Further, it sounds as if she wants to do a paired t-test. If these guesses are correct, then the data need to be restructured from LONG to WIDE before you can use the paired t-test command. The command to do that is CASESTOVARS. If my guesses were not correct, please provide a sample of the data, as suggested by David Eugene Booth.
Basically there were 2 groups of participants:
1. Control group
2. Subjected to a condition group
They are identified in SPSS as 1 and 2 and listed under a variable “group”
Each group had to do 2 tasks (listed in SPSS as a variable “Task“) and the time doing the tasks was measured (listed as a variable “Time”).
i want to make a comparison between the time that each group took for each task
