would anyone have any advice on how to input and analyse true/false questions on spss. I have 30 statements, 15 are neuro myths and 15 are brain based knowledge questions and participants must answer T/F. Would each question be inputted as a variable? Or would it be easier to do two data sets. one for neuromyths and one for brain based knowledge, as opposed to pouting them all together?
Shauna Tyrrell It sounds like you have two distinct variables with 15 items measuring each variable. Thus, you should not combine data from these two item sets together, but analyze them separately.
How you input and analyze the data depends on what it is you want to know from these data.
Agree with Blaine, this depends on your research aims and the type of analysis you want to do.
If you just need to do the data entry, you could input each question as a variable (total 30 variables), where each value for the participant is correct or not (or 1 or 0). Then you can make another three variables. Myths, Knowledge and Total, which would have the participants score on the test out of 15 and 30 respectively.
You don't have to have different datasets if they are coming from the same participants, because you can select what variables you can include in your analysis.
