I am looking for the best way to analyse phospholipids. I am not interested on fatty acids but total phospholipids such as phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingomyelin, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol.
The publication contained in the following link describes an HPLC method for the analysis of total phospholipids such as phosphatidylethanolamine, sphingomyelin, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylinositol
Perhaps this won't be helpful, but while over in Canada I ran a few of these kits which analyse a range of metabolites including sphingomyelins, phosphatidylcholines etc..
Have a look, and if you think it might be suitable then I can put you in contact with the lab over there. They run a service (The Metabolomics Innovation Centre [TMIC]) and would run samples for a price, or maybe as a collaboration.
