I would like to bring to your attention that the publisher "International Research Publication House (IRPH)" is predatory according to the website https://beallslist.net.

Are you sure that your paper has already been published in the journal? The reason for missing in Scopus may be that it is still in preparation for publication. Accepting a paper within less than 24 hours does not necessarily mean that it will be published withing short time.

The International Journal of Engineering Research and Technology is not indexed in Scopus, see https://www.ijert.org/our-indexing : "We also expect to be indexed in SCOPUS & Web of Science (WoS) soon." Therefore your paper will not appear in the Scopus database simply because the journal is not indexed by Scopus.

I sent an email to Scopus and they replied the following:

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your e-mail regarding the title entitled: “******: A literature review".

Following your inquiry, I have requested our technical team to add your paper to our database. Please note that this correction may take up to four weeks to be completed. I will contact you again, within this timeframe, to confirm the date by which the correction is expected to appear on Scopus.

This shows that they are in Scopus, but very low standard journal just for money.

Indeed, the journal “International Journal of Engineering Research and Technology (IJERT)” is as you said published by “International Research Publication House” with the link:

and is as said by Mohammed O. Al-Amr is mentioned in the Beall’s list of potential predatory publishers:

This publisher is the same or at least linked to “Research India Publications”:

https://www.ripublication.com/ also included in Beall’s list.

These are important red flags. Other red flags are:

-This latter publisher used to have four journals indexed in Scopus, all discontinued in 2016/2017

-Both links to this journal mention seemingly different editorial boards

-Papers have no DOI

-Foreign authors are asked to pay USD 750 which is pretty high looking at the reputation of this journal

Your experience is a confirmation that this publisher is predatory or at best a low-quality one despite the fact that their Scopus indexing is still valid: https://www.scopus.com/sourceid/21100828027#tabs=2

They somehow managed to pass the two-year evaluation where Scopus often decides to continue or discontinue a newly included title. Altogether, especially looking at your experience, the advice seems to be that this is a journal/publisher better to avoid.

Thank you for your comprehensive answer. I totally agree with every single word you write. I hope Scopus can take action to remove such a journal from their list. even in the Scopus website, they disable the discussion in their journal profile because they know that authors will complain about them.

Good point. Scopus should have a discussion/comments section like SCIMago:

Scroll down on the page and you will find comments. Unfortunately the SCIMago team gives often pretty meaningless comments like “ask the journal” or “we have no influence on the data provided by Scopus” and when they refer to the Beall’s list they refer to an outdated one ... (https://beallslist.weebly.com/ ).

But the reactions of researchers is sometimes pretty informative. A number of the comments of researchers point out similar disturbing experiences like yours (including ones that indicate that their university does not accept the publication because the publisher is indicated as predatory).

Scopus should do something with the experiences of researchers and act on them (way more quickly than they do right now).

Thanks for your suggestions and useful information you keep sharing with other researchers. I agree with everything you mention in your post. Even in SCIMago, I could not reply in the comment section in this journal profile. Maybe they give the journals the option to disable the comment option in their profile.

Thank you Mohammed O. Al-Amr, yeah, it is a predatory publication house, I wish that Scopus and other well know indexing academic institutions can take serious action against this type of journal.
