I agree with Claudio saying that Workbench doesn't like nodes very much!! I try to address this issue in different ways.

If the node you are interested is on the surface or edge (you can hover the pointer on it) then:

1) select the mesh on the tree and either press Ctrl+N to activate selecting node or click the Node selection from the toolbar. After selecting the Node you are interested simply click on the "static structure" on the tree and then select displacement icon from the toolbar.

2) If you want to select all the nodes located on the surfaces or edges, turn the Selection toolbar on and then use "Convert" icon, "Convert Selection to Nodes" this function turn you selection (surfaces or edges) to nodes located on those features. In order to be able to see this function you need to activate ANSYS beta in "Option" first.

If the nodes you are interested is located within the geometry and you can not select it with pointer, then follow this method.

Create a name selection first. Change the "Scoping method " to "Worksheet". Hover the mouse on "Action" and the right click. select "Add Row". Change "Entity Type" to "Mesh Node". Set the "Criterion" to " Node ID". finally set the "Value " to Node ID number that you are interested and then click "Generate". After Selecting the node you want, then follow the same instructiion hat I explained earlier to inserting the displacement.

In my opinion, it doesn't really mater that you are performing a pre stressed modelling or created the model from scratch. As long as the mesh is generated on your model, then these methods perfectly for selecting nods.

Dear Claudio ! Thank you so much . Yes that is exactly my question, and I just applied this as a command , but it sounds like it did not apply. And since I use workbench , I don't get the error about it, just that I know it has not worked.
