I am using a Varian GC 3400 Cx, having two injectors A and B. Unfortunately the system is not showing any option to turn on the Injector B in GC configuration option. Could you please tell me how to activate Injector B hardware?
What software do you use? In Star Chromatography, you choose in the Method Builder the Detector, then by default it saves both signal in the chromatogram. During analysis you choose and evaluate the appropriate signal: Open Chromatogram, Open File Window > choose data file > change Channel (A or B).
Thanks for your reply. I am using star chromatography software!
In the detector section it is showing both the detector (we have FID and ECD hardware installed) and it is working properly.
But in the INJECTOR section it is showing only one INJECTOR, although we have two injector hardwares installed! If I proceed heating only front injector is getting heated. Actually, I would like to use the rear one. How to activate it? (I am unable to see the option for INJECTOR A and INJECTOR B as seen in case of DETECTOR A and DETECTOR B)
Now I checked again, and in Star>Method Builder it is similar (for me - Varian 3800) - you can choose and change the injector as well.
But in 3400, you might have to check and change the JUMPERS on the hardware motherboard, it is probably not fully automatic yet. Do you have the manual?
Probably the PJ72 connect is loose, which is why the temp. control board heats only one injector. Or the Switch OCI INJ STD S2 on the Temp. Ctrl. Board. Refer to 3400 manual, Injectors section, pg. 6-7, 13-14.
And now I scanned the 1075 Split/Splitless Capillary Injector. There are 8 big schemes, too, please try these things first, either way you might end up with a real technician (now Agilent, not Varian).
I am using some 3500's standalone. They're quit similar to the 3400.
On the left part of the control board there is a key labeled (gc configure'
By pressing this key you run trough the configuration of the device. There is a section called 'turn hardware on/off'. If injector B (or what ever ) is not turned on in this table the gc software the item is not visual in the method builder.
Considering the way the gc communicates with an external PC ( and thus star soft) the same situation will apply for your software.
If You can not find a device in the hardware section then there is an electronic problem with the printed circuit board of this device . Check the connections or try to remove and reinstall the board.
Dear Kris Wolfs, Thanks for your reply and suggestion. I tried the method you told. However, in the GC config. option there is NO option for injector! Later I came to know that, the injector B is working using AUXILLARY OVEN! Now the problem is solved!
Now my new problem is I am confused with this injector, whether it's 1077 or 1078 how to identify. Because I need to insert the right length of the column inside!!!!
