Try cultivating dermatophytes on potato dextrose agar.

Try to modulate the media with an increased peptone concentration, yeast extract addition, and a lesser amount of dextrose. Make sure to add the antibiotic cycloheximide.

You can even try using YPDA as an alternative.

addition of collagen and fibronectin (filtered sterilized) in a minimal amount might trigger the growth rate as they are dermatophyte isolates.
