Is it possible to reduce the NOx emission in the diesel engine using the technology of Variable Valve Timing by varying the valve timing of a Diesel engine?
And if so, how the problem should be approached?

EGR whether external or internal is proved to reduce NOx emissions but at the expense of power produced. VVT will lead to a very complicated engine and will also result in output power reduction. Why not entertain water injection technique for reducing NOx ?
