We are going to analyze the levels and the phosphorylation state of several proteins from post-mortem (Alzheimer's) brain tissue. However, we have no opportunity to reduce the time interval between the autopsy and the freezing of the tissue below 12 (or even 24) hours.

How badly will this affect the quality of our data? Could you recommend any means of preserving the tissue before we get it to the freezer? (e.g. +4/+1 C, some buffers, etc.)

I would be also glad to receive any links to the literature on human tissue preservation and storage.

Best wishes,

Evgeny
