If you are engaged in real project, I will always advise every project manager or program manager to get acquainted with the use of contemporary technologies for project planning, scheduling and monitoring. If you use the most common MS project software, you will be able to plan and schedule your project activities, and once your baseline is set, you can track your progress as work proceeds on site. Once you can record the actual work deliverables in terms of duration, you will automatically see the overall percentage completion of the work in terms of cost and schedule.
However, if you are to calculate manually, you can either calculate percentage completion either using the actual cost incured against the overall budgeted using simple percentage formular.
