The question was first asked as "how does the press impact society". Here is part of the answer, from the mouth of Napoleon himself : "without the control of the press, I would not have stayed more than four months in power".
Media are vectors of influence. They carry free speech, they may carry "guided speech" and any interest to influence other people.
I would add to the question: what forms of radio media are being shaped?
Radio is not just one way audio programmes being broadcast with occasional telephone calls from the audience inserted in the programme being "aired". Radio are very multifaceted media pools including video, social networks, web pages. Because they were lighter than TV initially, their transformation shows higher weight for their new components (web, social) relative to the media part.
Each of the communication technologies have an impact on social development, as John Culkin says (taking the ideas of Mcluhan) “We become what we behold. We shape our tools and then our tools shape us”
