A few years ago, I published a piece in the Huffington Post entitled American's Cult of Ignorance is No Match for Asia's Cult of Intelligence https://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-w-traphagan/america-ignorance-asia-intelligence_b_5505032.html. Several articles have been published since that also note the cult of ignorance and anti-intellectualism that seems to be profoundly powerful in the US (and also some other places like the UK with Brexit and we see it in things like anti-vaccination movements). I'm curious to read opinions about how scholars and other intellectuals should respond to this cult of ignorance. What are our responsibilities as intellectuals to respond to this? Should we respond?
