It is a known fact that some Presidents say that women/ladies belong to the kitchens of their husbands. As such, these set of Presidents give low attention to the appointment of female into their cabinets. Their beliefs have been that female child needs no formal education. What is your stand on this ?

Every human being either male or female should be treated the same, when it comes to education.
If the population of the world is almost half female, it will be foolishness to deny half of the world's population formal education.
If as at 2018, issues on the right of the female child to quality education is still a point for debate, then there is a major problem in the world. I have seen male and female experts in virtually all the fields of life. Every female should be given the platform and support to pursue their academic goals to whatever level they desire, denying such is illiteracy in itself.
I want to sincerely thank my respected colleagues in person of Dr. Kennedy Okokpujie and Dr. A.I. Adekitan for their invaluable contributions to this essential topic.
Everyone has the right to education. This issue should not be related to gender. It is a pity that this issue is on the agenda in this age and it remains on the agenda. All kind of support should be given and opportunities should be forced for the education of girls.

Anyone with a brain can contribute to science, engineering, etc for the well-being of humanity. Therefore, education of all people is very profitable. If Madame Currie (of Poland / France) was not trained, some of us would not have survived.
It depends on the definition of “education”. If education is a fundamental human right that is inalienable, then perhaps profitability is an immoral and irrelevant criterion. However, many people contest the view that “education is a right” because there is zero accountability from governments in terms of the enforcement of the right. If education is NOT a fundamental human right, then maybe it is perfectly okay to use other criteria to assess the merits of education.

Education is a basic need for any child in this world
Due to so many beliefs and dis-beliefs already women are deprived of so many facilities...in this world due to some stereo type thinking.
I am a woman, mother of two children, I am working as a scientist...I do cook food for my family....women are multi taskers...they can do hundred jobs
But it is absolutely nonsense to say that they are not required any education and they are meant for cooking and raising children.
Thank for your view Dr. Asoori Latha , is quite unfortunate that some Presidents of some countries are saying that. That was what prompted this discussion. I also give equal priority to both male and female children without any bias.
Let me try and present an argument from the other side. (and play the devil’s advocate, so to speak)
Suppose we train 100 doctors, 50 males and 50 females. For the past five years, 48 of the 50 males were practicing doctors; however, only 25 of the females were in the profession.
From society’s point of view, it is EXTREMELY expensive, and there is a HUGE need for doctors and medical services.
In terms of education it is important for both female and male to be given good education. Education to female policy is changing and all are encouraging by giving reservations. Female child should be given proper education to stand on their own legs. This is also helpful for family to guide their children, to give education to them and make hem excel and they should not be limited to kitchen and house.

Why not, Yes, women are highly efficient and deserving to become doctors. They can help people, say good words, help them with patience and heel their disease as early as possible with proper care.
Education is very important equally for male/female. Nation's progress is impossible without an educated and trained female.

I really can't believe that we are discussing this topic. I thought (obviously wrong) that this discussion is more than 50-70 years behind us. Is it necessary to say that higher education (including PhD degree) should be reserved for those who are excellent students, doesn't matter are they male or female?!
Female or male is just a class of identification. We are all human being and we should enjoy the same privileges.
This discussion is NOT about gender equality or right to education for women. There is no question about giving education to women.
In fact, women may be better lawyers or doctors than men.
I gave a specific example. Please read below and respond to the example.

As a mother and as a teacher, I can say that education starts with a child when it is born and education continues permanently up to the very old age, hence the concept of long life learning (LLL), regardless of whether the child is girl or boy.
At present globally, I think that discussions should be conducted about the individual, whether male or female, and especially the qualities of the person who recommends him or recommends her it to any field or function, however high this function is.
However, the role and place of woman and man in society must be respected from a familiar point of view, each of which has a determining role in maintaining man's balance on Earth. The family has been, is and will remain the basic cell of society. All the best!
Dear Joseph Tham, is your example real or imaginary? Do you know reasons for such behaviour? I don't know that female doctors in such a huge number don't work in the profession. Is that situation - that you described - supported by empirical data? Could you tell us something about the sample? Is it statistically chosen sample or....?
I think that ability is not gender-related, and this is a completely outdated idea that unfortunately still exists in some countries.

I do not want to name the country. The women doctors are great, I am sure. The problem is the men. They are unable to guarantee a comfortable and safe work environment for the women doctors.
Joseph Tham Dijana Vučković There is no doubt by any stretch of imagination that economic cost especially for third world countries is huge when providing medical education to its citizen.Joseph tham figures regarding the practicing female doctors are absolutely right.This question is not related to gender inequality, it is a real and existing problem in many countries of the world.Just read the world economic forum report at :https://www.dawn.com/news/1460104. This is one example , one can find many other examples in this regard.

Well, I understand your point of view, dear Joseph Tham, but I'm all the time focused on the main question of this discussion (maybe I missed a part of discussion): How profitable is to train female child to University level? I'm aware that higher education costs a lot, but that price needs to be paid for each individual that has predispositions and needs for higher education, doesn't matter male or female . We may just think on short-term costs and profit - today in some countries it's not profitable due to low national economies and due to high costs - but there is something that is more important - long-term profit of education for each person, a person that is devoted to education, of course.

The problem is not about discrimination against women. In fact, many women qualify as doctors. The problem is that the women do not continue in the profession due to external factors that would be extremely difficult to change in the short run. However, we need doctors now. Please suggest some solutions to this problem. I look forward to your creative ideas.
A female child or children should be highly encouraged towards higher education. By getting higher education, not only the female gets benefited as she goes into the family all the people in the family gets educated or benefited by her. Female child can manage the things ad help them others to study also. In addition female child has high patience in doing work.

It isn't possible to give you any idea about solving the problem because we don't know what the problem situation is. Namely: Why female doctors don't work in their profession in that place/country/countries that you described? Why are they leaving? Are they in some kind of danger, life danger or some another? Where you need doctors? What type, e.g. specialisation is required? etc.

Reality is too complex, I agree. And it's more and more challenging for the humans of both genders. That's why we need very good education for all - not just at university level.
It is only an uneducated president would want to trivialize the importance of women in any political dispensation. Women need education and should be encouraged and sponsored to do so.
In my example, I am not saying that women should not attend university. I fully support women’s education. We must be practical and realistic. The question is: what are the boundaries of this support? Are there any limits? Unfortunately, in life we face constraints and tradeoffs. Think of ALL the people who suffer due to the shortage of doctors. Please.
Dear Joseph Tham, boundaries of the support are very clear, in my opinion - if someone responds well to the support (he/she is an excellent in learning, he/she is responsible towards duties, he/she respects the support in the terms that achieves the results etc.), that person deserves ''new'' support. The limit could be easily drawn - ''you should do that and that and the society will give you that and that, otherwise we are not going to support you and you should do on your own...''.
E.g. at the University of Montenegro, which is the only public university in our country, our students do not pay their tuition fees as far as they are dealing with their exams in the appropriate time frame. If they work hard and take exams in time, they won't pay anything for tuition, but, if they don't learn and don't deal well with learning schedule...they need to pay tuition. In that case, the support is missing.
I still don't understand your example with medical doctors. In my country (Montenegro) we have another situation. Female and male doctors are working their job. Of course, we could discuss about their competences, sometimes, but that's the common place for any profession.

There is no definition of the level of education that must stop the female, in order to build a successful community we have to distinguish in education among citizens on the basis of sex for all access to degrees in learning, and in our Islamic religion we have a modern Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him sayطلب العلم فريضة على كل مسلم ومسلمة" : Seeking knowledge is imposed on every Muslim male and female " Meaning that he did not distinguish between the sexes in the request for learning .
The men in the society are not providing the safe conditions for the women to work as doctors.
Female child should be encouraged to study. They should not be restricted and kept limited. A female child happening to gain knowledge not only helps her to grow but helps her family and the society to grow enough. One should not think in a profitable way but should think in the direction of helping and make her to achieve a stand of dignity and this will be a pride for ourself.
Everyone must be trained equally in terms of education no matter what their gender, race, ethnicity and other distinguishing factors be. In the same way opportunities should be provided to all based on merit without any discrimination so that the workforce is a true representation of the demography of the area.
Agree! We believe that discrimination must not exist, but there must be competencies to recommend it in certain private jobs or public functions to the person, regardless of whether it is a woman or a man. All the best!
Dear Joseph Tham, in that case we have two solutions:
1. Change the circumstances and make possible to female doctors work in their profession. It's probably hard to achieve (although I still can't understand how is it possible to have that situation today!). In that society - in which female doctors can't stay in their profession - from my point of view, it's important to work on psychological and sociological preconditions.
2. Forbid entry of female persons at faculties of medicine and be honest towards them and towards the whole world. It's really without any effects to educate someone without possibility for that person to work in the profession. And it's wasting of time and money.
2. solution is impossible, I think, because that's the violation of basic human rights.
The most important medical specialisation in that type of society is, I'm afraid, psychiatry - there is something very sick in the society in which someone's gender define his/her possibility to work.
