Hi,

I'm wondering why paramagnetic ions effect relaxation time in NMR.

To be specific, why paramagnetic ions makes relaxation time faster?

I understood the small magne (paramagnetic ion) interfere outer magnetic field (B).

But I don't understand the effect towards speed.

How this could be happened?

I think the small magnet interfere the spin relaxation and the number of having different spin reduced. Therefore, the resolution gets lower.

How could I explain this effect of paramagnetic ions?

Thank you!
