How often should I clean it, is it every 6-months/yearly?
Is this protocol right for cleaning?
1st Time we got this water distiller I use salt lemon 0.5 Kilio & turn on the device for 3 hours (twice) & wash it very well with tap water and turn it on for the 3rd time to clean it from any remaining salt lemon.
How often should I test the water quality is it every 6-months/yearly or every time after cleaning?
It depends on the source water quality. Test after each cleaning is needed since it will illustrate the extent of cleaning which is essential. Otherwise, test in every 6 months is recommended.
I suggest that you read the instructions for your distillation apparatus, in which it is possible to have an answer to your question.
However, you can do your cleaning if the pH of your water is no longer up to the required standard.
Since it seems that you are taking the necessary steps to clean it almost daily, I feel once in two weeks to test the water quality is a reasonable time interval. Again I should say all repends on the quality of water of your water source. If quality of your water source is very low, you might have to check the water quality more frequently.
