Does anyone know how much it would cost to measure (R)MR in a terrestrial mammal of approximately 30 kg BW over a few days (2 to 7) using the doubly labelled water method? What would be the cost of the actual DLW and the sample analyses? Estimates for bigger or smaller animals / other durations would be helpful too. Many thanks in advance!

somehow your question came up on my RG side.
We measured FMR in llamas (BW ~ 150-200 kg) and ponies (BW ~ 150 kg). The DLW unit cost was about 700-1000 Euros per animal (depending on the current cost of 18O which can change) for a measurement duration of approx. two weeks. Sample analysis was about 30 Euros per sample. We did all the DLW purchase and analysis via the lab of John R. Speakman in Aberdeen. You might consider contacting him.
